Guide to yo-yo play and culture.
This is a difficult trick if you have mastered the basic tangler. If you aren’t so good at basic tangler, this may be easier. The difficulty is in getting the counter weight to shift off plane enough to not hit the yoyo when the yoyo switches direction. Tanger, by design, is supposed to have the yoyo and counterweight travel on the exact same plane.
Start off with a basic tangler.
After a couple repetitions, bring your arms down to stop the momentum of the yoyo.
Try to shift the counterweight off plane enough to not hit the yoyo.
The counterweight, because of its weight should fly past the slowing yoyo in its original trajectory.
After you’ve slowed the yoyo enough, bring your hands back up, forcing the yoyo to travel in the opposite direction.
If you’ve done everything correctly you should be in a smaller version of Angel Wings.
The momentum of everything is a little bit awkward for a split second so you have just that amount of time to correct everything and get into an angel wings hand motion instead of a tangler hand motion.
