Guide to yo-yo play and culture.
This next mount ups the difficulty level from other mounts in terms of its timing. The 5A 1.5 mount is a lot like the 5A Double or Nothing mount from level 1, only this time you are going to catch the counterweight and mount the yoyo on the same hand. Doesn’t seem like a big deal at first, but the speed in which both catches happen will make you think twice.
It starts out just like the Double or Nothing trick you’ve already learned. Release the counterweight at the same time as you would for a Double or Nothing. Here’s where it gets tricky, you have to cut off the yoyo from going around for the Double or Nothing. Catch the counterweight first then immediately cut off the yo-yos path and mount it on your throw hand index finger. Same hand you just caught the counterweight in.
Practice this trick in different speeds to see what timing works best for you, For me, I like to throw a slow break away and counterweight release, then speed it up and mount the yoyo quickly thereafter.
